XXIV

Choreographed by Corrie King , funded by Westway Trust

XXIV - TWENTY FOUR is explorative piece reflecting upon the individual differences between the people and their cultures, living in high rise council estates and the societal culture created from that. The diversity and inclusion that exists in these high rise communities will be exhibited in the variety of the performers backgrounds. XXIV explores the frustrations that are common amongst families living in such conditions and also acts as a tribute to the fallen voices of Grenfell Tower. The piece hopes to pay respects to the many that lost their lives that tragic day

THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

WHY IS XXIV 'TWENTY FOUR' IMPORTANT?

" This give me a chance as a growing artist and as a member of the community to not only develop myself but give back to my community as a direct result of development through the process of “Twenty four”. Moreover, I believe that “Twenty four” will be able to voice an opinion based on primary community research and development  to bring light to community-based issues as well as try to offer solutions through discussion. In addition, I hope that through this we may be able to help other communities around London facing similar talks of discussion around high rise communities are share our findings across the city. Another reason Twenty four is important is that I will get to work with local artists, and connect with more people and help them to also connect with others". - Words from the choreographer Corrie King

• A showcase of 10 dancers (established and emerging). 3 core dancers (Including the choreographer) and 7 for ensemble piece

• 15 minute performance of work-in-progress of a new piece of work, inspired by high-rise communities in North Kensington

• An informal Q&A session, giving audiences and artists the opportunity to discuss and give feedback on the piece

• An exhibition of 3 visual artists work (animated film, photography, painting) from artists with a relationship with North Kensington
